Projects

Twelve projects, from original section corners on remote ranches to mountaintop control, construction layout in Yosemite and an underground decline.

Happy Isles & Vernal Fall

Topographic survey from the top of Vernal Fall down to Lady Franklin Rock, through Happy Isles and along the road back to Curry Village, captured with a 3D laser scanner.

Sierra foothills · Underground

Exploration mine decline

Boundary survey of several hundred acres of private and BLM land and topographic mapping of the ground above. Underground, we set line and grade for the contractor's guidance lasers and deliver updated as-built drawings as the decline advances. It is now approaching 4,000 feet.

Heavy civil · Yosemite

El Portal & Tuolumne Meadows treatment plants

Control and construction layout for a national contractor on two Yosemite wastewater plants, including structural steel and precast buildings, plus deformation monitoring with a 0.005 ft (1/16″) reporting threshold.

High Sierra · Boundary & drone

Across an alpine lake

Forty remote acres in the high Sierra, reached by boat. We recovered the original section corners, solved the boundary, flew a drone topo with a 1-inch orthophoto, set corners and filed a record of survey.

Agricultural · ALTA/NSPS

Large-acreage ALTAs

ALTA surveys and records of survey on ranches and farms of 1,000 to 5,000+ acres for institutional agricultural investors, across California.

Monterey County · Boundary

Big Sur backcountry

The original 1882 government survey here was fraudulent. We tracked down the corners surveyors set to replace it in the early 1900s, redwood posts in rock mounds, tied them to GNSS control and filed a record of survey.

Boundary · Retracement

1,000-acre ranch, original corners

Original 1800s government section corners recovered across a thousand acres, then intermediate points set along the property lines to guide new fencing.

Yosemite National Park · Federal boundary

Park boundary surveys

Federal boundary work along the Yosemite National Park line, retracing original section surveys and century-old park boundary posts to BLM Manual standards.

Science · Field sites

Ecological observatory field sites

Surveys at long-term ecological research sites from California to Oregon and Virginia, for a national science program.

Legal · Expert witness

Contentious boundary disputes

Expert witness work on complicated boundary cases, where the history, the evidence and the math all have to hold up.

Yosemite's South Entrance · Working statewide

We still love Yosemite. We still work in it.

Our office is in Oakhurst, at the South Entrance to Yosemite National Park, and we've surveyed some of its best-known places. The work also takes us across California, from Sacramento Valley farmland to the high Sierra and Catalina Island.

Let's talk about your project.
